Vietnam Consular Procedure

Consular services are provided by Vietnamese embassies and consulates abroad. These services include visa issuance, passport issuance and renewal, legalization of documents, and other consular assistance to Vietnamese citizens living abroad.

Visa Issuance

To apply for a visa to Vietnam, you can either apply in person at a Vietnamese embassy or consulate, or apply online for an e-visa. The visa requirements vary depending on your nationality and the purpose of your visit. However, all visa applicants must have a valid passport with at least six months of validity remaining.

Passport Issuance and Renewal

Vietnamese citizens living abroad can apply for a new passport or renew their existing passport at a Vietnamese embassy or consulate. The passport application process is relatively straightforward and requires the submission of the applicant’s passport-sized photo, a copy of their valid Vietnamese identity card, and the applicable passport fee.

Legalization of Documents

If you need to have a document legalized for use in Vietnam, you can bring the document to a Vietnamese embassy or consulate for legalization. The document must be original and bear the signature and seal of the issuing authority. The legalization fee will vary depending on the type of document.

Other Consular Assistance

Vietnamese embassies and consulates also provide other consular assistance to Vietnamese citizens living abroad. This assistance may include helping Vietnamese citizens to repatriate to Vietnam, providing emergency assistance to Vietnamese citizens in need, and protecting the rights and interests of Vietnamese citizens abroad.
